Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday said that the current Government, lacking any understanding or practice of democratic procedures and strategies, is attempting to destroy the entire democratic system. The Opposition Leader made these remarks while addressing the Samagi Lawyers' Association members at the Opposition Leader's Office.

He noted that although the division of power and the system of checks and balances among the three main pillars of democracy are essential factors in safeguarding democratic freedom, the current Government is working to completely destroy this separation of powers.
