Srilanka, Nov. 5 -- "The Government has already recruited 72,000 new personnel to the public service, of whom nearly 7,000 have joined the health sector, said Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.Minister Dr. Jayatissa said that in the past, various Governments had recruited individuals into the public service without proper coordination, resulting in some sectors being overstaffed while others face chronic staff shortages.
He was speaking at the presentation of Appointment Letters to 303 graduates, including community health medical officers who were appointed to the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Medical Service at a ceremony held at the Colombo District Secretariat Auditorium on Monday (November 3).
