Govt follows 'Zero Tolerance Policy' on torture, UN Subcommittee told
Sri Lanka, June 16 -- Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath has told the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture that the current Government strictly follows a 'Zero Tolerance Policy' on torture.
A special four-member delegation from the United Nations Subcommittee on the Prevention of Torture, currently visiting Sri Lanka from June 15 to 24, participated in a special programme held yesterday at the Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Ministry. Speaking at the event, Minister Herath emphasised that the current Government strictly follows a 'Zero Tolerance Policy' regarding torture.
