Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- Cabinet approval has been granted to recruit nearly 62,000 into the public service to modernise a government that has become largely stagnant, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated.

"However, the employment issue cannot be solved merely by this. We must create an open economy through government processes that generates employment opportunities. Plans have already been prepared toward this goal,"the President said.
