Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- ITAK MP S. Shritharan told Parliament yesterday that the Government has not taken any steps to resolve the ethnic problem that has been raging for 80 years. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has made seven special speeches in Parliament. The President has not explicitly mentioned that he is taking a strategy to resolve the ethnic problem that has been raging in this country and the initial steps for it.

The current President should not act like the past rulers. He made these remarks while presenting a special adjournment motion regarding the human rights issues faced by Tamil people living in the North, East and hill country in Parliament yesterday.
