Sri Lanka, March 18 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday said the Government has taken several steps to prevent an energy crisis, despite delays in two oil shipments.
The President insisted that the people should not be in fear as the Government has made special focus on uninterrupted supply of fuel, maintenance of essential services, and provision of relief to the people who become vulnerable due to the current situation.
He explained that the Government has decided to go for emergency procurement of fuel while working through diplomatic channels to secure supplies from friendly countries.
He said that permission will be given for the urgent procurement of five oil shipments to the country.
