SriLanka, Sept. 23 -- The Government has gazetted the Protection of the State from Terrorism Bill, proposing a new legal framework to deal with terrorism and related offences in Sri Lanka.

The proposed legislation covers acts of terrorism and related offences committed within or outside Sri Lanka, while also seeking to prevent Sri Lankan territory or its people from being used to plan or facilitate terrorist acts in other countries.

It sets out procedures for the detection, identification, apprehension, arrest and detention of persons suspected of terrorism-related offences, as well as provisions relating to their investigation, prosecution and punishment.
