Sri Lanka, Dec. 23 -- Gold prices have recorded a notable increase in both the global and local markets. In line with the upward trend in the international market, gold prices in Sri Lanka have also risen.

As of today (23), the global price of gold has climbed to USD 4,485.

Reflecting this increase, gold prices in Sri Lanka have gone up by approximately Rs. 7,000 compared to yesterday (22).

Accordingly, the price of a pound of 22-carat gold at the Colombo Hettiveediya Gold Market stood at Rs. 325,600 this morning.

Meanwhile, the price of a pound of 24-carat gold, which was Rs. 344,000 yesterday, has increased to Rs. 352,000 today, according to sources at the Colombo Pettah Gold Market.
