Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- The price of gold in Sri Lanka has surged, with a sovereign of 24-carat gold now exceeding Rs. 400,000.
According to the All Island Jewellers' Association, the rate of 24-carat gold reached Rs. 410,000 as of this morning.
The price of a sovereign of 22-carat gold has also risen, now standing at Rs. 379,200.
The All Ceylon Jewellers' Association reported that gold prices increased by Rs. 15,000 today compared to yesterday, reflecting a continuing upward trend in the local market.
