Sri Lanka, March 3 -- The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said it will withdraw from the 'Arogya' project started by the Ministry of Health.

Their withdrawal will be effective from March 2.

The GMOA Assistant Secretary Hansamal Weerasuriya said they are taking this trade union action due to the lack of a positive response from the Government to several of their demands.

He also said in addition to this trade union action, the GMOA is currently engaged in seven other trade union actions.

Dr Weerasuriya went on to question what the Arogya project was about. He said the GMOA is not even aware of the purpose behind it and they have not been informed about it yet. He asked if a feasibility study has been done for the project ....
