Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will provide free legal assistance to victims of online loan schemes.

Addressing the media in Colombo yesterday he said the SJB will assemble a legal team to provide assistance to those who have fallen prey to online loan providers and those who now face harassment.

He said the SJB previously raised its voice in Parliament when information about this online loan mafia first emerged a few years ago.

He said that prevailing economic difficulties have forced borrowers to get loans from these online loan providers at an exorbitant interest.
