Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- Special inspection raids have been intensified across the Jaffna district ahead of the festive season, with legal action initiated against 48 business establishments for various violations, the Government Agent of Jaffna, M. Piratheepan has said.
According to the District Secretariat, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) carried out countrywide-style enforcement operations throughout Jaffna, during which offences were detected up to December 22.
The violations identified include the sale of expired goods, selling items above controlled prices, failure to display prices, tampering with labels and packaging, and the sale of counterfeit and substandard products lacking the Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) certification. Auth...
