Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- Former Sri Lankan Test cricketer Jayananda Warnaweera passed away this afternoon (16) at the age of 64.

Warnaweera made his Test debut for Sri Lanka in 1986 against Pakistan and went on to represent the country in both Test and One Day International (ODI) formats for over eight years.

A talented off-spinner, he earned a reputation for his accuracy and control on spin-friendly wickets. By the time he retired from international cricket in 1994, Warnaweera had claimed 32 Test wickets and 6 ODI wickets for Sri Lanka.
