Sri Lanka, Dec. 9 -- Colombo Magistrate's Court today (09) granted bail to former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), Mohamed Hilmi, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with an alleged corruption case.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered Hilmi's release on two surety bonds of Rs. 2 million each and imposed a foreign travel ban on the former official. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for February 17.
Hilmi was not present in court today, as prison authorities reported that he is receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. His lawyer, President's Counsel Anuja Premarathna, requested bail on the ground...
