Sri Lanka, Oct. 15 -- Former Navy Commander Admiral (Retd.) Nishantha Ulugetenne, who was in remand custody, was released on bail by Kurunegala High Court Judge Tikiri Jayatilake yesterday (14).
He had been remanded over allegations of abducting and unlawfully detaining a youth who had been receiving residential treatment at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and for allegedly maintaining a secret detention camp, according to a complaint filed by the Alawwa Police.
The case was taken up before the Kurunegala High Court yesterday, where the Court, having considered the submissions made by the defence counsel on behalf of the accused, ordered his release on bail.
