Sri Lanka, June 18 -- The charge sheet against former Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody for allegedly causing loss of over Rs.8.8 million to the Government by misappropriating funds belonging to the Lanka Fertiliser Company while serving as its Procurement Manager in 2016, was yesterday read out to the accused before the Colombo High Court.

Following that, the trial has commenced as the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) had filed indictment against the accused allegedly causing loss of Rs.8,859,708 to Government by misappropriating the contract for laying carpets at the company's ware...
