Srilanka, Oct. 11 -- In a solemn recognition of their service and sacrifice, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has posthumously promoted five Brigadiers to the rank of Major General.
The promotions, which honor officers who were injured or died in action, were made following recommendations from Air Vice Marshal Samipath Thuiyakontha (Retd.), Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, and Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, as part of the 76th Army Day celebrations on 10 October 2025.
The move reflects the nation's enduring respect for the bravery and dedication of its military personnel and serves as a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
