Sri Lanka, Sept. 24 -- Dr. Kasipillai Manoharan, the father of one of the five murdered Trincomalee schoolchildren and a tireless advocate for justice over the past 19 years, has passed away.
The tragic incident occurred on 2 January 2006, near the Gandhi statue in Trincomalee, where five students were killed. Initial reports falsely claimed the deaths were caused by a grenade explosion, but evidence later revealed they had been shot dead.
Dr. Manoharan, who identified his son's body at the morgue, noted clear bullet wounds. Soon after, journalist Subramaniam Sugirdharajan published photographic evidence in the Sudaroli newspaper confirming the killings were executions. He was murdered days later in a high-security zone.
