Sri Lanka, Jan. 6 -- A tragic incident was reported from the Nuwaragam Colony in the Pandikaramaduwa area, within the Galenbindunuwewa Police Division, where a man allegedly set his house on fire following a family dispute in the early hours of today (06).

Police said the incident occurred at around 2.00 a.m. after the man poured petrol inside the house and set it alight.

The 43-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter lost their lives in the fire.

Meanwhile, the man's 36-year-old wife, their 15-year-old daughter, 20-year-old son and the 66-year-old grandmother sustained burn injuries and were admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for treatment.
