Sri Lanka, Feb. 9 -- A mother and her 14-year-old daughter from Galaha, Nawaneliya have died due to electrocution after they came into contact with a fallen power line which had allegedly collapsed during Cyclone Ditwah.

Residents say that the mother and her daughter died after they came into contact with an high-voltage power line that had fallen during the cyclone. Police investigations have revealed that the mother and daughter had come into contact with the power line when they went to pick curry leaves on a land adjacent to their house. Residents said that the daughter had come into contact with the unprotected power line first and that they suspect that the mother might have been electrocuted when she went to save her.
