Sri Lanka, June 10 -- A special place among all living beings in the world belongs to birds. Birds perform an invaluable service to the planet, not only by maintaining the balance of ecosystems but also by bringing a sense of wonder to our lives. Currently, over 11,000 bird species have been identified worldwide, with nearly 500 of these species recorded in our country. Among them, 35 species cannot be found anywhere else in the world-meaning they are endemic to Sri Lanka, a testament to our rich biodiversity.
