Sri Lanka, July 31 -- For the first half of 2026, ending June 30, 2026, the revenue target for the Excise Department was Rs. 119.3 billion. However, Excise Commissioner General M. B. N. A. Premarathna stated that during the first half of 2026, the department was able to collect Rs. 141.5 billion in tax revenue for the government.

He said that this is 118.6 percent of the annual targeted revenue of Rs. 245 billion for the Excise Department. Compared to the revenue of Rs. 117.03 billion earned by the Excise Department during the corresponding period in 2025, the government was able to collect 120.91 percent higher revenue this year.
