Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- A former senior officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) tendered a written apology to stand-up comedian Natasha Edirisooriya today(19) at the Supreme Court over her arrest under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act. The officer was the Officer-in-Charge of the Cyber Crimes and Intelligence Analysis Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the time of the arrest.

The apology was presented during the hearing of Ms. Edirisooriya's Fundamental Rights petition, which challenged her arrest and subsequent remand, citing damage to her reputation, dignity, and mental well-being.
