Sri Lanka, June 29 -- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, stated that the past era of creating communalism and religious extremism for narrow political gains, which drove the country into discord, has now come to an end.

He emphasised that the new Government is fully committed to building a disciplined and civilized society where all communities can coexist in harmony.

The Minister made these remarks yesterday (28) as the Chief Guest at the 76th Annual Convention of the All Ceylon YMMA Conference held at the Colombo Lotus Tower premises.
