Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Transport, Highways and Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Rathnayake told Parliament yesterday that the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) will take over the printing process of new driving licences using new machines, expecting to reduce the cost per licence and stop the financial waste.

He further revealed that the DMT is currently in possession of 800,000 driving licence cards and expects to start distribution from October 18. The Minister further said that the Government will order another one million cards before the existing stock of cards finishes.
