Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Belize was held in New York on October 21. A joint formal announcement was made in this regard by Sri Lanka's Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism and Belize's Foreign Affairs Ministry, Belmopan recently, stated by Colombo Foreign Ministry in a release.
Upon the signing of Agreement by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Jayantha Jayasuriya and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Belize to the United Nations Janine Coye-Felson on October 21 in New York, the Governments of Sri Lanka and Belize decided to establish Diplomatic Relations between the two countries with effect from October 21.
