Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (25) arrested Colombo Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Uditha Liyanage in connection with a treasure-hunting case involving his wife.

Police said he is scheduled to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court.

Earlier, on August 14, Anuradhapura Police arrested eight individuals, including the wife of the DIG, for allegedly digging for treasure in a rock cave near the Raththarange Devalaya in Shravasthipura, Thibirikadawala. The suspects, aged between 35 and 58, were residents of Badulla, Maligathenna, Padavi-Sripura, Giradurukotte, Warakapola and Anuradhapura.

Police also seized several tools used for digging, including mammoties, crowbars...
