Sri Lanka, Oct. 8 -- Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila yesterday said that removal of robes of Ven.Gnanasara Thera and bringing him court in civil clothes is against the law, Constitution and the Buddhist tradition and discipline.

"No government in power touched the robes of Buddhist monks as protecting and promotion of Buddhism is a part of country's basic law," he said.

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo he said that the removal of robes of Ven.Gnanasara Thera and bringing him courts dressed in civil clothes shows that the government's disregard to the Buddhism.Read Travel Guides
