Srilanka, July 9 -- The 21-year-old daughter of remanded specialist neurosurgeon Dr. Maheshi Wijeratne has been granted bail after being arrested for allegedly issuing death threats to officials at the Bribery Commission.
The Colombo Magistrate's Court ordered her release on a surety bail of Rs. 500,000. She was taken into custody by Keselwatte Police on Monday following the alleged threats.
Dr. Maheshi Wijeratne remains in remand custody over serious allegations of selling medical equipment-originally valued at Rs. 50,000-to patients for Rs. 175,000 through a private company she is associated with.
