Sri Lanka, Aug. 12 -- The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) pushed President Mahinda Rajapaksa to take the decision to intervene militarily to defeat Tamil separatism. Therefore, the former Presidents' rights should not be curtailed, made unprotected and exposed to the Tamil Diaspora, former JVP Politburo member and former Minister Nandana Gunathilaka said yesterday (11).
He emphasised that the 'Former Presidents' Rights Act' is being brought at the behest of the Tamil Diaspora and that today the JVP has become a victim of Tamil separatism, and pointed out that it was a serious political mistake to abandon it to the will of a few members of the political council that brought Mahinda to power.
