Sri Lanka, April 23 -- The total amount of currency circulating within the Sri Lankan economy exceeded Rs. 1.5 trillion in 2025, marking a significant increase from the previous year. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka confirmed this growth in its latest financial reports.South Asians & Diaspora

Financial statements revealed that the total currency in circulation rose from Rs. 1.35 trillion (Rs. 1,358,722,883,000) in 2024 to Rs.1.56 trillion (Rs.1,568,938,866,000) in 2025. The data indicated a distinct rise in the value of both coins and currency notes over the one-year period.
