Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- The Court of Appeal has revived the corruption case against former Minister Johnston Fernando and two former senior officials of the Co-operative Wholesale Establishment (CWE), setting aside a High Court order that had discharged the accused on a preliminary objection.

In a judgement, a five-judge Court of Appeal Bench held that the Colombo High Court had erred in dismissing the indictment filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), and directed the trial court to restore the case to its roll and proceed with the hearing without delay.
