SriLanka, April 4 -- Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasised the need to create an environment within National Colleges of Education that fosters the development of capable teachers with strong leadership qualities, in order to achieve the government's envisioned education transformation goals.

She said that these institutions play a vital role in producing teachers necessary for maintaining quality primary and secondary education.The Prime Minister made these remarks during the meeting with the committee of experts which has been appointed to enhance the standards and undertake restructuring of National Colleges of Education.
