Sri Lanka, Oct. 15 -- The Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) instructed the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) to develop a formal mechanism to recover assessment tax arrears remaining outstanding within the CMC area.

CMC officials informed the COPA that a new database system will be developed through a KOICA project to implement functions properly including maintaining assessment revenue.

Accordingly, the Committee instructed the CMC to inform the COPA about the progress of utilising the new database system that is being developed for the systematic collection of assessment revenue in consultation with the KOICA project in order to increase the efficiency of assessment collection.
