Sri Lanka, July 20 -- Sri Lanka Customs confiscated a stock of foreign-made cigarettes valued at over seven million rupees.

The 266 cigarette cartons containing 53,200 Chinese-manufactured cigarettes and worth 7.98 million rupees were hidden inside the luggage brought by two foreign nationals who had arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at Bandaranaike International Airport.

Customs arrested the duo early yesterday morning (19) while they were attempting to smuggle the cigarettes out of the Airport. The decision to confiscate the cigarettes was taken following investigations after Police Narcotic Bureau officers at the Airport arrested the suspects following investigations.
