Check legal status of care homes before admitting family members - Minister
Sri Lanka, June 8 -- Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment Minister Dr. Upali Pannilage urged guardians to thoroughly investigate the legal status of care homes before admitting their parents or other family members to such facilities.
Speaking to the media in Kandy, the Minister emphasised that according to Sri Lankan culture, caring for parents and family members is the fundamental responsibility of children and relatives. He further noted that if a family is genuinely unable to provide such care, they can opt for a structured programme where the individuals are taken into state custody and cared for through a proper judicial process.
