SriLanka, Sept. 24 -- Sri Lanka's Chanithma Sinaly fought past China's Ziyi Liu 3-2, while Ravindu Laksiri swept aside Mongolia's Guyen Davaajav 3-0 as both reached the squash singles last 16 at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, yesterday.

Sinaly held her nerve in a close women's round of 32 match to keep her campaign alive. The former games captain of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya in 2024, competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Asian Games in China. She also won the mixed doubles plate title with Shamil Wakeel in Birmingham.

World number 106 ranked Laksiri gave Davaajav little chance in the men's round of 32, winning 11-0, 11-1, 11-1.
