Sri Lanka, Oct. 14 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has introduced a new tariff scheme for electricity generated from battery energy storage systems integrated with rooftop solar panels.
Under the new scheme, the CEB will pay Rs. 45.80 per kilowatt-hour for electricity supplied from battery storage systems during peak demand hours, between 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm.
This initiative aims to encourage solar power producers to adopt energy storage technology, storing electricity generated during the day and supplying it to the national grid at night when demand is highest. The scheme is expected to enhance the efficient use of solar energy and strengthen the country's renewable energy infrastructure.
