Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) yesterday said that Sri Lanka has crossed key development milestone as annual per capita electricity consumption surpasses 700 Units.

CEB Spokesman Dhammika Wimalaratne said the country has marked a significant human development milestone with its annual per capita electricity consumption surpassing 700 units in 2025.

This indicates not just statistical growth but deeper progress in energy access, quality of life, and economic empowerment."According to official records, per capita electricity consumption increased from 642 units in 2023 to 693 units in 2024, and within the first seven months of 2025, it has already exceeded 700 units," he added.
