Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- The court hearing for former President Ranil Wickremesinghe commenced today (26) before Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura.

When the case was called up, Wickremesinghe was not produced in court. A panel of lawyers, including President's Counsel Thilak Marapana, Anuja Premaratne, Upul Jayasuriya, and Ali Sabry, appeared on his behalf.

The Attorney General's Department informed the court that it objects to granting bail to the former President. Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, representing the Criminal Investigation Department, also noted that the legality of the invitation letter in question has not yet been confirmed.
