Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- The Government is in the process of removing the obstacles involved in bringing back the specialist doctors who have left Sri Lanka and many such specialist doctors who left the country to work overseas have already returned and are working back in the health sector and the existing vacancies will be filled using them.
Responding to a question raised by NPP MP Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera yesterday in Parliament, Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that there are 72 specialist doctors' services that are currently available in Sri Lanka with 3,181 cadres approved under them. He said that there are 2,042 specialist doctors currently in the country with 1,139 vacancies that require to be filled.
