Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- The Cabinet has approved the introduction of regulations on the regulation of activities of indigenous communities within designated areas, aimed at safeguarding the traditional livelihoods and ecosystems of indigenous communities.
The Health and Mass Media Minister made this statement at the press briefing on Cabinet decisions held yesterday (6).
The regulations, titled 'Fauna and Flora (Regulation of Activities of Indigenous Communities within Designated Areas)', have been drafted under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance. The Cabinet approved the proposal, which was submitted by the Environment Minister.
