Srilanka, Feb. 5 -- The Court of Appeal has set aside the summons issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court on former President Maithripala Sirisena in relation to the Easter Sunday terror attacks, issuing a Writ of Certiorari in his favour.
The ruling was delivered by a five-judge bench comprising Justices Dhammika Ganepola, Mayadunne Corea, P. Kumararatnam, Sasi Mahendran, and Amal Ranaraja, following a writ petition filed by the former President challenging the legality of the summons issued against him.
While granting relief to the petitioner, the Court of Appeal clarified that its order does not prevent the Colombo Fort Magistrate from making a fresh determination, upon the availability of any further material.
