Sri Lanka, Feb. 26 -- The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed two writ petitions filed by Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd challenging directives issued by the Defence Secretary to remove the company's armouries from Sri Lanka Navy premises.

The order was made pursuant to writ applications filed by the company and several of its employees seeking relief against the decision of the Defence Ministry. Dismissing the petitions in limine, Court of Appeal President Justice Rohantha Abeysuriya and Justice Priyantha Fernando observed that there was no legal basis to proceed with the applications.
