Businesses face fines totalling over Rs. 14 Mn
Sri Lanka, July 21 -- The Central Bank (CB) has taken steps to impose total administrative penalties amounting to Rs. 14.6 million on several reporting institutions that violated the provisions of the Financial Transactions Reporting Act during the six-month period from October 2025 to March 2026.
The Financial Intelligence Unit operating under the Central Bank imposed these penalties in accordance with the powers vested in it under Sections 19(1) and 19(2) of the Financial Transactions Reporting Act, No. 6 of 2006.
The fines collected in this manner have been credited to the Consolidated Fund of the Government.
