BASL President Rajeev Amarasuriya announced the move following the brutal shooting of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda.

Stressing that the incident threatens the entire legal fraternity, Amarasuriya noted that this marks the first time in 14 years since the 2012 impeachment of Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranaike that the association has called a full general meeting.

The assembly, scheduled for 3:00 PM, will determine the Bar's collective course of action in response to the tragedy and the broader safety of legal professionals.
