Sri Lanka, July 8 -- To commemorate Poson, the Bank of Ceylon conducted a series of religious and community initiatives in conjunction with the annual week-long Pirith Chanting Ceremony held at the sacred Mahamevnawa in Anuradhapura.

On the eve of Poson Poya, a devotional Bhakthi Gee programme was held near the Ruwanwelisaya, featuring performances by the Bank of Ceylon Bhakthi Gee Group together with a devotional choir comprising schoolchildren from the Anuradhapura District.

The Bank organised a tea and refreshments dansala for devotees observing Sil and other pilgrims at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on Poson Poya Day.
