Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- The High Court has fixed September 23 to consider the bail petitions filed by former ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Nalin Fernando, who were convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment in connection with the carrom board incident.
The petitions, filed seeking release on bail pending appeal, were taken up today (25) before a three-judge High Court bench comprising Mahesh Weeraman, Pradeep Abeyratne, and Amali Ranaweera.
During the hearing, counsel for the Bribery Commission informed court that he had not yet received the notices regarding the petitions. After reviewing the submissions, the bench directed the Bribery Commission to issue notices to the accused and scheduled the matter for September 23.
