Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- The government since assuming office has taken several steps to provide households with financial relief by increasing salaries to counteract years of stagnation amid inflation that peaked near 70 percent, as well as changes to income tax brackets, Labour Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando told the regional dialogue organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) held in Colombo.
"Inflation has now been brought down to near zero or less than 5 percent, with a flexible target of 5 percent for the next three years. These initiatives demonstrate our government's commitment to ensuring dignified lives for all," he said.
