Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Former Petroleum Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, along with six others, has been indicted in open court on charges of criminal misappropriation of Rs. 6,146,110 belonging to the Petroleum Corporation.

The indictment was presented before Colombo Chief High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne, after which the defendants were released on bail - Rs. 100,000 cash bail and a surety bond of Rs. 1 million each.

The charges, filed under five indictments, allege that the former Minister, the then Chairman of the Petroleum Corporation, and six others misappropriated funds by spending Rs. 6,146,110 on flood relief between December 2014 and January 2015, without following due procedure.
